Desayuno Chino

«There is nothing more Panamanian», says the poster, and it is talking about a Cantonese breakfast. In the Chinese restaurants of Panama City, the ones that open before dawn and the ones already on their third generation, dim sum is ordered at the corner table and washed down with coffee.

The film goes into those kitchens and into the family albums to tell how a custom that arrived with Chinese migration ended up Panamanian. Directed by María Isabel Burnes, produced by Too Much in co-production with Cine Animal.

«No hay nada más panameño», dice el afiche, y está hablando de un desayuno cantonés. En los restaurantes chinos de la ciudad, los que abren de madrugada y los que ya van por la tercera generación, el dim sum se pide en la mesa de la esquina y se acompaña con café.

La película entra a esas cocinas y a los álbumes de familia para contar cómo una costumbre que llegó con la migración china terminó siendo panameña. Dirigida por María Isabel Burnes, producida por Too Much en coproducción con Cine Animal.
