Carolina Borrero

Director · Producer

A Panamanian filmmaker and one of the founders of Cine Animal, she works at the crossing of art, science and education. Trained in film directing at the Universidad del Cine in Buenos Aires, she moves between fiction and documentary, on projects that connect audiences with the natural and cultural heritage of Panama.

Her work includes the chapter «1913» of Historias del Canal (2014), the documentary Los Cuentos del Bosque (2019), the series of educational micro-films Matusagaratí (2021–2025) and Isla Escudo de Veraguas (2022). Her experience as a children's film educator and as a curator of audiovisual heritage led her to conceive films that work like seeds: cultural objects designed to germinate in the collective imagination.

La Selva Llama, her first feature documentary, brings together her commitment to making audiovisual tools that inspire future generations to recognise their place inside the forest.
